Curtis and Jessica have been honing their craft as homebrewers for years, and its become more than merely a hobby for them... it's become a passion.
After countless conversations between them both, a dream began to take shape, and the decision was made to open the doors of Nodding Donkey Brewing.
where it all started
Our story begins in Drayton Valley, a town deeply intertwined with the rich narratives of farming, logging, and oil exploration. For generations, the rhythmic sounds of pumpjacks, the tireless toil of farmers, and the hum of the loggers have been the heartbeat of our community. These iconic industries have inspired us to capture the very essence of our local culture and heritage in every bottle of beer we brew.
At Nodding Donkey Brewing, we are blending the past with the present, to craft beers that tell the story of Drayton Valley’s enduring spirit. With every sip, you're not just tasting beer; you are savouring the flavours of our history and a celebration of our bright future.

Nodding Donkey Brewing is more than just a brewery; it's a reflection of the vibrant history of our local community.
Like so many rural towns across Alberta, Drayton Valley has always thrived on the spirit of hard work, determination, and the unyielding nature of the people who call this place home. This town is a place where the land and the people have a deep connection to agriculture, forestry and oil and gas.
As you drive through our charming town and the rolling hills of the county, you'll notice the wide open fields nestled up to dense forests and pumpjacks dotting the landscape, like sentinels of the past, a true testament to this region's rich history and exploration. From the early days of settlers carving out a life in the rugged bush to the bustling oil boom of the mid-20th century, these events reflect the grit and perseverance that have shaped our town's identity for generations.
